Reception Class meet the Penguins!

3rd May 2019Keble Office

Reception Class had a wonderful time at London Zoo this week. We got the opportunity to visit the terrific tigers, swoop high with the owls, burrow with the meerkats and even hiss with the Madagascan cockroaches. The boys loved exploring the zoo and its famous animal sanctuaries and showed off their great knowledge of animals and their habitats in the hands on workshop where they sorted and classified animal artefacts.

Thank you to all of the parents that supported the trip.

Haileybury Robotics Challenge

22nd March 2019Keble Office

Yesterday, I took four Year 6 boys to Haileybury to represent the school in a Robotics challenge.

We had an amazing day. Starting with the boys having to build a VEX robot from its components which we managed to do in approximately 40 minutes. In the second session we had to design a snow plough addition to our robot to allow it collect our designated rings in the challenge. The boys came up with an amazing design which worked beautifully.

We finished the day with   Robot Wars and redesigned our model.  It made it through all the rounds of the competition unscathed  due to a fantastic design. I would like to thank the four Year 6 boys who represented the school so magnificently. I was very proud of their robotic skills.

Plenty of Mad Hatters for World Book Day

7th March 2019Keble Office

The boys (and teachers!) looked brilliant in their hats for today’s Mad Hatter themed day and the Junior boys thoroughly enjoyed their Big Read session with the Year 7s and 8s.

The Junior School assembly involved Mrs Louca and Mrs Lauder pitting their wits against Zac and Abbas from Year 4 in a World Book Day quiz. The teachers (now newly named ‘The Cheaters’) competed well (but slyly!) and lost to Zac and Abbas in the tie-breaker; how the boys knew when The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe was published, I do not know!

The whole school enjoyed a super tea party style lunch and thoroughly enjoyed the day.

Thank you, parents for all your support in supplying the boys with fantastic hats.

Reception trip to Willows Farm

6th March 2019Keble Office

Reception Class had a wonderful day at Willows Farm and the rain even held off until the end of the day. The boys got to ride on Tristan’s Tractor and observe cows, alpacas, sheep, turkeys, goats and horses around the farm as well as watch the lambs being fed and having a petting session with the farm guinea pigs. The boys learnt about where milk comes from and what foods milk is used to make as well as learning about reindeer and their annual antlers. We were lucky enough to experience the lambing season in full swing and got to visit week old lambs with their mummy’s. We were very proud of the boys knowledge and teamwork on the trip. A big thank you to all of the parents that helped on the day.

Keble U9s v St Aubyn’s

1st March 2019Keble Office

In two tightly contested games the Keble boys pulled clear with victories for both A and B teams. In the A team game, Captain Aidan B was magnificent scoring ties and making thunderous tackles. Man of Match Anderson W also scored but his passing was what impressed me most. I was delighted with the whole team efforts and in particular James B, Charlie C and Abbas D who listened well at half time and improved their tackling and ball carrying in the second half. Coby C and Lemuel O also contributed with strong carries resulting in an excellent team performance.

The B team were also fantastic with Captain Dawud A leading the tackle count and Zachary Z running well with the ball in hand. Whilst St Aubyn’s tired very hard they could stop Keble’s powerful runners, where Hari C, Zak K and Nathan O were exceptional. Josiah S showed his pace with several outside breaks and good support play from Adam S meant Keble ran out winners. Well done boys!!

Year 5 recreate ‘The Great Wave’

14th February 2019Keble Office

The Year 5 boys have been recreating ‘The Great Wave’ by Japanese artist Hokusai in art this week. They broke down the image into foreground, mid ground and background and created their version of the work in watercolour, adding texture and energy by flicking acrylic paint for the crest and spray of the wave.
